What I've Learned So Far
If you’re new here, don’t worry — so am I.
I’m Eric, a travel nurse who lost everything trying to buy freedom the quick way. Over the past few posts, I’ve shared how I went from dreams of FIRE (financial independence, retire early) to a nightmare: hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt — and how I’m rebuilding with a focus on Christ, humility, and cash flow.
As my last post in this introductory series, I wanted to zoom out and share what I’ve learned so far in this new chapter of life.
Faith First
When I left God out of my plans, even the best spreadsheets couldn’t save me.
Putting faith back at the center has changed everything. Life didn’t get easier — but I finally have peace.
I know now that no enemy is too great for Him.
Cash Flow Beats Ego
Deciding to sell my duplex taught me that sometimes the bravest financial move is admitting something no longer serves you in the season you’re in.
Equity looks nice on paper, but cash flow buys peace.
Comfort Isn’t Freedom
The Tesla was my shiny trophy — a symbol of having “made it.”
Now, it’s a reminder that validation is a terrible ROI.
Freedom isn’t a fast car; it’s no car payment.
What’s Next
From here on, I’ll be posting two to four times per month — several reflection posts or updates, and one monthly progress report with real numbers, real lessons, and hopefully, real takeaways.
If you’ve just stumbled here, start with the first post: Starting From Below Zero. It’s the story that began this whole thing.
I don’t know exactly where this path leads — in fact, I have no idea. But I do know I’m supposed to walk it in faith, paying debts off one contract at a time.
Subscribe if you want to follow the climb — through the spreadsheets, the shifts, and the spiritual lessons along the way.
